Forklift Technician

JOB SUMMARY

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repairs of forklifts.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other equipment faults.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Identify faulty components and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements.
• Conduct troubleshooting and equipment testing after repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
• Ensure forklifts are maintained in safe and efficient operating condition.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and technical faults.
• Work closely with operators and supervisors to identify equipment issues.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and workshop standards.
• Assist with the installation, servicing, and commissioning of new equipment where required.

Requirements

• OND, HND, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in forklift maintenance and repairs.
• Practical knowledge of diesel, LPG/gas, and/or electric forklifts is an advantage.
• Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and transmission systems.
• Ability to use basic diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond to equipment breakdowns efficiently.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and equipment reliability.
