ASSISTANT GEOTECHNICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

ABOUT THE ROLE

PREMIUM HR SOLUTIONS LIMITED is currently recruiting for our client, a reputable engineering and geotechnical company, to hire an Assistant Geotechnical Laboratory Technician.

The successful candidate will support laboratory operations through the handling and preparation of geological samples, laboratory testing, equipment maintenance, data recording and reporting while ensuring compliance with safety and professional standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive, label and safely store geological samples for testing.
• Collect, catalogue and organize laboratory materials and geological samples.
• Support research activities and laboratory organization.
• Clean, maintain, set up and recalibrate laboratory equipment.
• Collect relevant specimens, including rocks and soil, and prepare them for laboratory analysis in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Maintain equipment records and daily work logs.
• Maintain accurate records and databases.
• Determine and perform required laboratory tests for analysis and reporting.
• Record test results and compile data for analysis.
• Prepare and report laboratory test results.
• Discuss and respond to questions regarding test results.
• Organize and store earth samples in accordance with safety and other applicable requirements.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Team Lead.

REQUIREMENTS

• B.Sc. in Geology or an applied science such as Chemistry or Physics.
• Minimum of Second Class Lower from a reputable institution.
• 3–5 years of experience working as a Laboratory Technician.
• Familiarity with basic geological computer programs used to analyze geological data and samples.
• Strong scientific reasoning and mechanical knowledge.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a logical and analytical approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent analytical, mechanical and organizational skills.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong research capabilities and willingness to learn new analytical tests, instruments and procedures.
• Highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.
• Ability to prioritize and balance assigned tasks.
• Commitment to Health & Safety, Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct policies.
• Knowledge of geological and geotechnical interpretation and geological processes.
