Cashier

Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Cashier to join our team in Ikorodu. The successful candidate will be responsible for attending to customers, taking and processing orders, handling cash and electronic payments, operating the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, and maintaining accurate daily transaction and sales records.

The ideal candidate should be trustworthy, attentive to detail, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to deliver excellent customer service while maintaining accuracy in all financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend to customers professionally and courteously.
• Take customer orders accurately and ensure they are properly processed.
• Operate the POS system to process customer transactions.
• Receive and process cash, POS, transfers, and other approved payment methods.
• Issue receipts and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
• Accurately count, handle, and safeguard cash received.
• Balance daily sales and reconcile cash and electronic transactions at the end of each shift.
• Maintain accurate records of daily transactions and sales.
• Assist customers with menu options, recommendations, and product information.
• Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling where appropriate.
• Confirm that customer orders are correctly processed and completed.
• Coordinate with kitchen/service staff to ensure orders are delivered accurately and promptly.
• Report discrepancies, payment issues, shortages, or other transaction-related concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cashier/POS area.
• Follow company procedures relating to cash handling, customer service, and sales reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum of OND, NCE, or HND, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a Cashier, POS Operator, Front Desk Officer, or in a similar customer-facing role is preferred.
• Proven experience operating a POS system.
• Basic knowledge of cash handling and sales reconciliation.
• Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Honest, responsible, dependable, and trustworthy.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
